Bodywork Training
Part of our approach is discovering what works best for you. Below you will find descriptions of some of the techniques that may be used during a
massage therapy session with us. Ongoing continuing education courses are an essental part
of what aids us in helping you.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release MFR stretches the myofascial unit a combination of muscles and the fascia, a thin layer of tissue covering every muscle. When a muscle is injured or strained, the fascia around tightens and can become sticky. This can affect the muscles capacity to do work. Stretching both areas together, the therapist relieves soreness in the muscle and restores the flexibility that results from restoring the fluid capacity of healthy tissue
Trigger Point Therapy
What is remarkable about Trigger Points is that they are hyper irritable points in the muscles that refer pain somewhere else in the body, thus a headache or shoulder pain could be from a TP in the neck. In order for the trigger point to be released a variety of soft tissue approaches are utilized by the therapist. We are able to share self-care techniques that could help you to relieve your own Trigger Points at home or work and we sell tools that can help. (Thercanes, Foam Roller, Physio Balls, Heart tools)
CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral massage CST involves working from the core of your body outwards. The therapist very gently works the muscles to access this fluid system that surrounds the brain and spinal cord and is constantly pumping essential information throughout the central nervous system. This pumping action that is the CranioSacral rhythm can be felt at the bilateral structures of the body (hands, feet etc.) and along the spine. The therapist is able to assist your body in finding a better flow of the CS fluid by relieving restrictions, which restores and relaxes the entire body.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage works the deeper muscles to release tension in the body, usually chronic tension. This is done with slow strokes and concentrated pressure on the tense area to remove toxins and loosen muscles. Deep tissue massage can result in soreness for a day or two following the massage.
Sports Massage
This unique form of massage is typically done in conjunction with athletic events. Sports massage prepares an athletes body for performance by relieving fatigue, reducing swelling in the muscles and joints thereby promoting flexibility and preventing injuries. Sports massage also helps heal minor injuries that can be caused do to excess activity.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage relaxes muscles through pressure applied to the muscles and joints with soothing strokes returning blood to the heart. This increases oxygen flow and releases toxins built up in the muscles.
active assisted stretching
Active isolated stretching; a sequence of stretching exercises that encourages flexibility by combining active stretching and reciprocal inhibition (RI) methods. The movements are performed repetitively until adequate progress has been made.
Prenatal Massage
Pregnancy massage focuses on addressing the special needs of expecting women. Specially-designed massage tables, cushions, and side-lying postures are used to prevent putting pressure on the abdomen.
